About Dead Websites

August 11th, 2010 Bambangxp 0 Comments

Have you ever heard about ‘dead websites’? It is about the websites which end their life on internet after a while. What happens to these after their death? Is there an archive where you can trace them? Does anyone keep statistics how many websites are dying daily or monthly? Which country or which category has actually the biggest cementry of websites? Is there a study about the reasons of their death? The questions could go on.

The idea about this dark part of internet came up when I was surfing on a shortwave radio in the middle of the night. Suddenly, I caught the words ‘Tod und Sterben im Internet’ from a German channel. The program was almost ending. ‘Tod und Sterben im Internet’ means ‘death and dying on internet’. How sad it sounds! But what does it actually mean? I can’t give a better description than the next I found on the internet:

Combining Subscribe Button With A Help Button

Most sites, especially blogs have feeds associated with them, but Internet users do not know what a feed is or how to use it. You’ve probably seen the little orange button with white writing (XML,RSS, Feeds, Syndicate This Site) on a web page or blog post. If you are a non-techie, you must have wondered what this little button is for. To ensure that Internet users know what a feed is, Dave Winer, RSS creator, advocates the use of one simple and universal button Subscribe, which leads to feeds rather than using XML, RSS, Feeds, etc. Some web developers even combines the Subcribe button with a Help button that will lead web users to an explanatory page about subscribing and RSS.

About RSS, XML, Syndicate This Site Link
A button or a link that says Syndicate This Site, RSS, XML simply means that the article title, a link and a brief description for each new page or post are available for you to use on your site or to access through a newsfeed reader program.

Alexa Toolbar – The Ultimate Internet Tool

There are numerous tools available on the Internet to assist online businesses. A valuable tool that you should use is the Alexa Toolbar. Even better, this tool is free.

Alexa Toolbar

Founded in April 1996, Alexa.com was designed to provide an interactive web navigation system. The most impressive part of the platform, now owned by Amazon.com, is the free Alexa Toolbar.

First released in 1997, the Alexa Toolbar is known as the “B.S.” detector for Internet sites. With over 10 million users, the toolbar tracks how people use the Internet and turns this information into ranking statistics for each site on the Internet. For instance, Yahoo is ranked as the number one most visited site on the Internet.

A Search Engine that PAYS YOU to make a Search?

As editor of a large Article Directory, that currently has over 20,000 Articles, we receive hundreds of new  ideas that arrive daily….but in this past week I have received two new articles, that have both made me sit up and take notice. This is the first of those, the other I will leave for a second article.

Every day many millions of searches are performed, admittedly over 80% of those searches are currently made by internet users that go through either Google, MSN or Yahoo, but then like this new Search Engine, they too had to start somewhere. After all it was only a few years ago that Google started, now look at how big they are.
